Lesiones reversibles en resonancia magnética cerebral, después de un estado epiléptico

La gran mayoría de los pacientes que presentan crisis epilépticas no sufren ninguna lesión cerebral focal como consecuencia de dichas crisis, sin embargo, de manera muy ocasional, algunos pacientes presentan lesiones cerebrales focales bien documentadas, como consecuencia directa del evento epiléptico. Estas lesiones tienen la particularidad de resolverse espontáneamente en el curso de pocos días. Por su escasa frecuencia son muy poco conocidas y ello puede originar errores de diagnóstico y de manejo. Se presenta un caso de lesión cerebral focal provocada por un estado epiléptico, la cual se resolvió espontáneamente, y hacemos consideraciones importantes sobre la trascendencia de este tipo de lesiones, así como su posible origen. |

| Abstract |
| Most of the patients that suffer epileptic seizures do not present any brain injury as a consequence of the seizures. However, occasionally some patients have well-documented focal brain injuries as direct consequence of the seizures. The particularity of these injuries is that they resolve spontaneously in few days. Because its frequency is very low, they are not well known, originating misdiagnosis and treatment. Herein it is presented a case of focal brain damage provoked for an epileptic status with spontaneous healing, and we make some important considerations about this kind of lesions, and on its possible origin. |
